About the guests

Boe Dix-Mason and Lee Goater are Boe&Lx, vinyl digging DJ buddies who’ve been playing at festivals, clubs, parties and in random fields for the past 20+ years.

Their love of music and passion for record collecting makes for genre-spanning, time-travelling, space age sets guaranteed to give you super powers.

They’re the heroes of the outrageously new, the forgotten and the once lost tunes that make you want to dance your socks off, put them back on and then do it all again.

Regularly playing the likes of Beatherder Festival, Golden Cabinet, Big Disco and MIDNIGHT at Sheaf Street.

Boe&Lx also host shows on Run Dem Radio and BCB FM and had the pleasure of bringing special guests to the studio including Pye Corner Audio, LUV JAM, Cervo from Banana Hill and Peter Croce from Rocksteady Disco.

About the resident DJ’s

Cut La Roc

Lee Potter, aka Cut La Roc, made his name in the hurly-burly big beat days of the late 90s, he was responsible for pioneering the big beat sound worldwide alongside Midfield General, Bentley Rhythm Ace and Fatboy Slim to name a few.

Cut La Roc held a four-year residency at the Big Beat Boutique in his hometown of Brighton as well as numerous worldwide super clubs including The Viper Rooms in LA for Johnny Depp. He’s DJ’d all around the world several times, appeared on Top Of The Pops performing the single by Wildchild ‘Renegade Master’ set a Guinness world record for DJing with the most decks at once (twenty!) and has recorded with vocalists such as Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody.

It all started for Cut La Roc when he got into hip-hop in his mid-teens. He practised scratch techniques for hours, becoming an expert battle champ, and when acid house hit in the late 80s he was exhilarated by its energy. He began to DJ in clubs, using his turntable skills to stand out from other DJs, and by the mid-90s had fallen in with the Skint Records crew.

Big beat, the sound that coalesced around Fatboy Slim and the Skint brigade, was a perfect genre for Lee. Mashing together block-rockin’ beats, amyl house, sample culture, breakbeat and drum & bass, this was an exciting time for electronic music. Big beat is credited with converting a slew of indie-rock fans to the wonders of dance music, and its mix ‘n’ match ethos suited Lee down to the ground.

As well as being resident at the Big Beach Boutique for many years, Lee DJ’d all over America, Australia, Europe and the Far East. He put out first the ‘Mad Skills EP’ on Skint, swiftly followed by ‘Freeze’, ‘Making It Hot’ and ‘Fallen’ singles. He was invited to mix an ‘FSUK’ comp for Ministry Of Sound before releasing his debut album on Skint – ‘La Roc Rocs’ – in the year 2000.

Assorted tracks and remixes of his were signed to many best-selling compilations, and he still receives significant airplay and support from key industry tastemakers such as Annie Mac and Pete Tong.

Lee continues to tour worldwide, bringing his inimitable style to packed out clubs and festival audiences alike, including occasional all vinyl extended sets. His bold yet accessible sound and mind blowing scratching abilities ensure constant repeat bookings and frequent requests for residencies. His production style is cutting edge, and he is an in-demand remixer and collaborator, working alongside other household names like the Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy. Lee is also head judge and mentor for the B side project remix awards, and is dedicated in his support of up and coming talent, frequently holding scratch masterclasses.
