Farcical Comedy is back with a fantastic line up for Saturday 4th February 2023 with not one but two stars of Live at Apollo Stars Scott Bennett & Tom Ward.

Scott Bennett

After starting comedy in late 2009, Scott is a stand-up comedian and writer who’s star is most definitely on the rise.

He made his debut on BBC One’s Live at the Apollo last year and was nominated for Best Club Comedian by Chortle in 2022.

His last two shows Leap Year and Relax were nominated for ‘Best Show’ at the Leicester Comedy Festival and has been named by Chortle as One to Watch for 2018 and 19.

His debut hour stand up show About a Roy was nominated for the highly acclaimed Amused Moose Comedy Award and was selected as one of the top ten shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015.

He has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, The Now Show, The Likely Dads and Elephant in the Room with Sarah Millican, The Summer Festival with Daliso Chaponda, The Comedy Club with Arthur Smith, and Knock Knock with Helen Lederer. He also featured on the BBC One show, Live from The Edinburgh Fringe.

During the lockdown of 2020, Scott pioneered the viral hit, Stand up from the Shed, a weekly topical live streamed stand up show from his actual garden shed. The show achieved national coverage in the press, Sky News, BBC News and Five Live and has had over 150,000 views.

At the end of 2020, in the Comics Comic awards Scott was voted “Best Act” a prestigious award decided by comedians and promoters in the industry. Previous winnrs include, Mick Ferry, Zoe Lyons and Ian Stone.

This year he has supported Jason Manford and John Bishop on tour and in 2017 and 18 Scott supported Rob Brydon on his National UK tour dates for his latest show I am Standing Up. He was also selected to do a support slot for Michael McIntyre as part of his work in progress shows at the Duchess Theatre in London alongside Keri Godliman, Russell Kane and Ed Gamble.

Tom Toal

Tom Toal is a comedian, writer and actor, hailing from the South East London town of Bexleyheath.

One of comedy’s rising stars he performed his debut show On The Scrapheap about the break-up of his 6 year relationship at the Edinburgh and Leicester Festivals in 2010 achieving widespread acclaim and reviews.

The follow up Rom-Coms and Revolutions followed in similar vein playing to a complete sell out audience for the full run.

In 2013 Tom Toal performed at The Comedy Reserve with The Pleasance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and in 2014 TT became an Amused Moose Best Comedy Show finalist for his solo Edinburgh Festival Fringe show, Prequel. In March 2017, he opened gigs for Rob Brydon for some of Rob’s tour across the country.

One of Tom’s major strengths is his ability to adapt to his audience. Having hosted a range of events from Post Rock Bands album launch to benefit nights for the Socialist Workers Party, Tom has no trouble changing his style to suit the audience, whether it be Stag/Hen weekends, art centre events or corporate crowds.
